HSE Statistics 2007/8

The latest figures on work related illness and workplace injuries produced by the HSE, were released on 29 October 2008. Below are some of the key statistics for 2007/08.

  • 2.1 million people were suffering from an illness they believed was caused or made worse by their current or past work.

  • 229 workers were killed at work, a rate of 0.8 per 100 000 workers.

  • 136 771 other injuries to employees were reported under RIDDOR, a rate of 517.9 per 100 000 employees.

  • 299 000 reportable injuries occurred, according to the Labour Force Survey, a rate of 1000 per 100 000 workers.

  • 34 million days were lost overall (1.4 days per worker), 28 million due to work-related illness and 6 million due to workplace injury.

New E-Learning Modules

We have recently installed new E Learning software to the website which now enables us to conduct online Health and Safety training and testing. Users are able to log into our system online and complete a variety of courses learning at their own pace, once a training module has been completed they can then proceed to the relevant test. We can easily tailor all our training modules to suit your type of organization or to your specific business needs and we can also certificate and provide records for those who successfully pass the courses. We provide full support and guidance to all our students throughout from a dedicated course administrator. For a list of current courses please click here
